Since its creation and its operationalization, the African Local Government Academy (ALGA) of UCLG Africa can count on a Network of Anchor Institutes in Africa which supports it in its vision and methodology of awareness-raising, training, and capacity building. capacities targeting UCLG Africa Members and Networks. Each year, the Network of Anchor Institutes holds at least one meeting to share information, exchange best practices, and strengthen the Network. Within the framework of the 9th edition of the Africities Summit, the Academy of UCLG Africa plans to hold the 7th meeting of the Academic Board as a favorable moment to present the new vision and the new strategic service offers to discuss the strategic orientations of the Academy, integrate the Network of Anchor Institutes and agree on projects of common interest. This 7th meeting will be held around the theme: “Transforming institutions and governance to build better by 2030 by mobilizing training and capacity building institutes”. General goal: The holding of the seventh meeting of the Academic Board of ALGA of UCLG Africa. Specific goals : · Share and discuss the main strategic orientations for Fiscal Year 2022; · Present the UCLG Africa e- Academy; · Present the results of the study aimed at creating an Accreditation and Quality Assurance Center in the field of training and capacity-building targeting Local Authorities; · Share and discuss the standardization tools developed by the Academy; · Present and form the Working Groups to support the ALGA Strategy of UCLG Africa; · Promote more synergy, coherence and co-creation in terms of the training and capacity-building offering targeting UCLG Africa Members and Networks. |

Najat Zarrouk has 31 years of management experience in public administration (1983-2014). She served at the UN as a member of the Committee of Experts on Public Administration (CEPA) from 2010 to 2017. Holder of a PhD in Political Science and graduated of the National School of Public Administration (ENAP) in Rabat and the University of Paris I (Panthéon-Sorbonne). Author of numerous essays and articles on public administration and global trade issues, including the publication of a book on "Trade and Development: From GATT to the WTO". She is involved in several networks at the global, African and Arab level. She has received several rewards, including the "National Order of Merit, Outstanding Class" awarded by His Majesty the King of Morocco, the UN Medal of Excellence in Public Service in 2013 and the OP DWIVEDI AWARD 2015 from the International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration (IAIA), to recognize her outstanding contribution to Public Administration and the advancement of public policies around the world.

Jean Pierre Elong Mbassi
General Secretary of United Cities and Local Governments of Africa (UCLG Africa)
Mr Jean Pierre Elong Mbassi has been the Secretary General of United Cities and Local Governments of Africa (UCLG Africa) since 2007. He was Chairman of the Cities Alliance Interim Management Board until April 2016. He is also Co-Chairman of the World Cities Scientific Development Alliance (WCSDA), and Deputy Secretary General of the China-Africa Forum of Local Authorities. Mr Elong Mbassi is the man behind the Africities Summits, the most important event of African cities, regions and local authorities, which he has overseen since the first edition in 1998. Mr. Elong Mbassi has nearly 40 years of experience in urban development and land use planning, urban services, local economic development, local community governance, housing and slum restructuring. From 1996 to 1999, he was the very first Secretary General of the World Association of Cities and Local Authorities Coordination (WACLAC), at the same time as he was Secretary General of the Municipal Development Partnership (MDP) from 1992 to 2006. Previously, from 1981 to 1991, Mr. Elong Mbassi was the director of the first urban project co-financed by the World Bank in Cameroon, which focused on the restructuring and development of an unhealthy housing area of 300,000 inhabitants in the city of Douala. Mr. Elong Mbassi began his professional career in Paris, France, where he was a researcher and then a project manager at the Cooperation and Development Agency from 1973 to 1980.
