PRESENTATION OF THE SESSION

UNODC
The roundtable discussion will seek to hear from policy makers, government institutions trusted with the welfare of children and youth, and youth themselves on the current climate with regard to crime amongst children and youth, and how to build resilience to prevent this from occurring.   The aim is to deliberate on structures that need to be put in place within local governments, with technical support from the private sector that act as preventative measures from criminal activities, and the recurrence of such, where children and youth are the perpetrators and victims as well.   The objectives of the session are:
  1. To outline and discuss the theory of change, showing the causal link between the creation of opportunities in education and employment and the effect in the prevention of crime;
  2. Seeking feedback on the plausibility of the proposed joint initiative;
  3. Discussion on capacity building activities to ensure sustainability of the resources provided i.e. education and employment;
  4. Identify gaps and hinderances in effectively providing access to education and employment.
