PRESENTATION OF THE SESSION

UCLG AFRICA/ALGA & ADEME Agency, France
As part of the support and accompaniment of African Local Authorities for the implementation of the SDGs, particularly the Climate Agenda, UCLG Africa through its African Local Government Academy  (ALGA)  and the ADEME Agency of France have set up establishes a partnership and collaboration framework, targeting the empowerment, training and capacity building of local elected officials and the staff of these entities. In perfect coordination between the two Partners, a body of African Trainers was selected who will be supported by Experts mobilized by ADEME. The objective is to design or adapt educational content, in a spirit of co-construction. The planned training modules are: 1.    Introductory module: The ecological transition of territories; 2.    Advanced module: Strategy for adaptation to climate change; 3.    Advanced module: Climate and Energy Planning in Africa. The designed or adapted Modules will be tested for better targeting of the African context, beneficiaries, methodology and pedagogical tools, before being deployed in a series of Training of Trainers Sessions. To this end, the two Partners have agreed to seize the opportunity of the Africities 9 Summit to organize a test training on the Introductory Module entitled “ The ecological transition of Territories ”.   Specific goals : -        To present the content and axes of the Introductory Module; -        To collect the points of view of the various actors and stakeholders in order to be able to finalize the Module; -        To have a Module, content and educational tools that fit with the context of local Africa and with the expectations of African Local Governments..
