PRESENTATION OF THE SESSION

COUNTY ASSEMBLIES FORUM
Agenda 2030 and 2063 prioritizes inclusive growth on all segments of a community rather than merely on pro-poor growth. Deeper integration allows for efficient exploitation of opportunities manifested through complementary interventions and integration of policies. The Sub-National/County Governments are better placed to play a pivotal role in the counties’ economic development if they focus their energies towards the implementation of well-defined core functions, policy priorities and utilize its resources more productively. This forum will provide a platform to understand the extent to which marginalized groups can fully participate in and benefit from the two international commitments. Kenya’s Legal Architecture of intermediary cities: the role of county governments in urban planning and design to promote and protect intermediary cities sustainability. County Governments: Enablers of environments that attract investment, foster inclusive development and generate new development opportunities: Lessons, Challenges & Opportunities. Shared prosperity through the African Continental Free Trade Area: Potential and challenges towards greater inclusiveness in trade. Role of media in promoting justice & development of intermediary cities.   The objective is to to propose strategies and concepts that will lead to performance improvements in the delivery of services and the creation of employment that will eventually contribute to economic growth in the counties/sub- national governments. The objectives of the session are: -        To discuss the existing strategies and concepts, highlight the gaps, on performance enhancement. -        Identify the economic growth gaps in legislation between the national government and the county counties /sub-national governments. The contributions are: -        Well defined policies in both the national government and the county government to favor the growth of the economy within the intermediary cities. -        Improved strategies to improve performance in service delivery. -        Facilitate grassroots decision-making for economic development.
